Indigenous Relations

Snell and Oslund Surveys is located in Red Deer, Alberta, in the two Territories of 6 + 7, on the combined traditional lands of the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nikota Sioux and Blackfoot Confederacy.

Through our work with staff, partners, clients and the land, our intent is to honour the traditional practises of our Indigenous communities, their ancestors, and future generations.

All of our work is intricately intertwined with the land. We acknowledge that Turtle Island was settled by Indigenous peoples and that we are guests on this land; we will show honour and respect and be ongoing stewards of it.

We commit to productive, respectful relationships with our Indigenous neighbours and we will work mindfully within First Nations, Inuit and Metis Indigenous Rights under the Constitution of Canada.

We are committed to continuing learning about, respecting and honouring Alberta and Canada’s traditional lands and Indigenous history and culture and, through that lens, we will conduct our business and work with the land and its original settlers in the following ways:

  • ·Respect for the land and the cultural practises, beliefs and historical knowledge of the Indigenous people and communities in the areas we work and live

  • Open communication with our staff, partners and clients with respect to the rights and considerations of Indigenous lands, communities and people

  • Inclusive business practises, including, but not limited to, employment of Indigenous peoples, support of Indigenous businesses and continued learning and professional development as it relates to traditional lands and practises
